Read DEATHRYDE: REBEL WITHOUT A CORPSE Q & A blog with author MICHAEL P. NAUGHTON
MYSTERIES OF MOTOWN
The disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa, the murder of Marvin Gaye, and the murder of Malice
Green (Detroit's version of Rodney King) were the real life detective stories of Motown that I was raised on. There's probably
not one detective show rerun that I missed growing up as a kid: Columbo still is my all time favorite. Streets of San Francisco,
Harry O, Mannix, Rockford Files, Baretta, Toma, Starsky & Hutch, Charlie's Angels, Quincy M.E., Ironside, Longstreet;
almost any Quinn Martin Production. On the big screen: Bullitt. Chinatown. Harper. The Drowning Pool. In the Heat of the Night.
Detroit 9000. Diamonds are Forever. French Connection. Serpico. Every Dirty Harry. Hitchcock. The Duke as Brannigan and McQ;
Elmore Leonard, PennyPress puzzles and Gold Key's Mystery Comics Digest. Ripley's Believe It or Not! Boris Karloff's Tales
of Mystery, Rod Serling's Twilight Zone, and playing in rock bands from Harpos to every dive past 7 Mile. Last but not least,
The Famous Coachman who played blues in the night on Detroit radio station WDET-FM 101.9. These all lead me to the long road
and writing of Deathryde: Rebel Without a Corpse, a story that started as a script 10 years ago and had been rewritten and
novelized into the book that is today.
